Answer questions 18, 22, and 23 for homework.

Due Friday 8:00 AM

"When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

.

Answer the question related to Figure 17.13:

"For the reaction between CO and H2 at constant temperature, changing the volume of the reaction vessel changes the concentrations of gaseous reactants and products. Increasing the pressure shifts the equilibrium to the right and increases the amount of product.

Compare the numbers of product molecules on the left with the numbers on the right."

Question (that isn't a question): Describe how the equilibrium for the reaction has shifted in response to the increase in pressure.

.

If a reaction is at equilibrium and more reactants are added, what will happen to the concentration of the products as the reaction reaches equilibrium?

Do reactions always proceed until one of the reactants is completely used up? Why or why not?
